The evolution of the last year’s project and also the large-scale edition of this year make the Bucharest International Poetry Festival the most important poetry festival in Romania of this kind.
The Bucharest International Poetry Festival (BIPF) is a cultural initiative of crucial need in the context of the European Union and its shared cultural values promoted through it. During the first edition, in 2010, Bucharest was among the only European capitals that did not organize or host a festival on the scale like this. Soon after its appearance, BIPF overcame this lack, and today it manages to settle poetry as a main stream literary genre, but also to bring poets and their distinguished voices into the attention of a large audience, passionate by different forms of poetic expression. For one week long, the inhabitants of Bucharest will enjoy the events that we challenge them to participate to, much more numerous and varied comparing with the previously editions, dedicated to all ages, from the little kids - who will discover the contemporary poetry during the creative workshops – to the elders, those who are (not) familiar with the poetic languages, all having direct access to this meaningful event, of a constant transformation stated the assoc. prof. dr.Ioan Cristescu, General Manager of the National Museum of Romanian Literature.
